Bob Kuehner

Chief Servant & Storyteller, School For Amazing Kids®

I care for people, investing my life into theirs for a return that pleases God.

Who I am

Christ-follower. Husband. Father. Grandfather.

The order matters. I believe the only way I can be the husband, father or grandfather I'm supposed to be is by sorting all that out as a Christ-follower.

Cindy and I live in Shelby County, Alabama on a fantastic property we call the Hundred Acre Wood. Twenty-seven trails crisscross it. Every one has a name. If you ever visit, plan on walking a few or getting a grandkid to tour you on the “buggy!”

The work

School For Amazing Kids®

SFAK is a family of childcare schools here in Shelby County. My title is Chief Servant & Storyteller. I know... it sounds a little weird. But it's the most accurate way to describe my job.

We care for people, investing our lives into theirs for a return that pleases God. Our mission—personal and professional.

I like having a healthy P&L—it's how we continue the mission. But the “return” I'm talking about is measured by a teacher who stays late because she cares... in a parent who drops her child off and leaves with a peaceful feeling, knowing that her child is loved and will be kept safe and well cared for... in a kid who walks into kindergarten ready.

And yes... we have a Chief Problem Assassin. Ask me about that sometime.

Serving

Beyond the schools

Hedrick Foundation

I serve on the board. Our Hedrick House work starts with a cold, hard, and inhumane truth... Adults who need purpose-built accessible housing with shared care usually get two choices... live with mom and dad or get warehoused in a nursing home. We're working on a third.

Gathering

I worship at South Columbiana Church of Christ, a small congregation that understands that people don't “go” to church... they are the church.

A table of peers

Convene—“a trusted community of Christian business leaders who meet monthly in peer-advisory teams to accelerate results and maximize impact.” We're in each other's business—literally. Iron sharpens iron, but it ain't painless!

For fun

On the trails with Adah, our Belgian Malinois, and Josiah, a Mini Schnauzer who keeps up fine with a bunch more steps. On the water. On the road in the motorhome. Usually with a book close by.

Why "servant"

“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.”
